NYS Department of Environmental Conservation needs to hear from you regarding the Proposed Regulatory change to 6 NYCRR Parts 6.2 and 6.3
Amendments to Fisher and Marten Trapping Regulations
This rulemaking is necessary to remove the requirement for trappers to obtain a special fisher trapping permit. This proposal would also remove the requirement for trappers to submit marten carcasses while maintaining the requirement for a special pine marten permit. A trapping license and pelt sealing would still be required for both fisher and marten.
The link will provide info on the Text of the Proposed Regulation, Regulatory Impact Statement and the email link to submit your comments.

As NYSTA's new president, I will work hard to keep the organization moving forward from times past. I am proud and honored to have the opportunity. I am dedicated to serve as your president to the best of my abilities.
I have a full time job and run a nuisance control and trapping supply business, so if you do not get an immediate response from me, please be patient.
We are looking forward to again having our convention on Labor Day weekend.
I would like to thank Jim Carmody and the rest of the Board of Directors for their commitment
to New York State trappers and trapping.
If you would like to attend a Board of Directors meeting, we have one on the third Saturday of January, April, July and October at the Herkimer County Fair Grounds.
If you need to contact me, my number is (518) 234-3715. Please leave a message if no answer.
Have a great summer - Ken Hellijas
